Export Profiles

The Export Profiles feature allows you to download profile data from HoodEngage in multiple formats.

You can select which profile properties to export, customize column names, and reuse saved export preferences for future exports.

This guide walks you through the full export process — from selecting properties to downloading exported files.

When to use profile export

Use profile export when you want to:

  • Download profile data for external analysis
  • Share audience data with other tools or teams
  • Create backups of profile attributes
  • Review or audit stored profile information

Export flow overview

The profile export process consists of the following steps:

  1. Open the export modal
  2. Select profile properties to export
  3. (Optional) Customize column names
  4. (Optional) Save export preferences
  5. Start export
  6. Download exported files from the Exports Center

Step 1: Open export

Navigate to Audience → Profiles.

In the top-right corner of the Profiles view, click Export.

This action opens the Select properties to export modal.

Step 2: Select properties to export

In the export modal, choose which profile properties should be included in the export.

The modal contains the following columns:

  • Type — indicates whether the property is system or custom
  • Name — internal property name
  • Export as — column name used in the exported file
  • Description — short explanation of the property

You can use the search field at the top of the modal to quickly find specific properties.

Only selected properties will be included in the exported file.

Step 3: Customize exported column names (optional)

In the Export as column, you can define a custom name for each selected property.

This allows you to:

  • Match external system naming conventions
  • Create more readable column headers
  • Standardize exported files across teams

If no custom name is provided, the default property name is used.

Step 4: Save export preferences (optional)

At the bottom of the modal, you can enable Save preferences.

When enabled, HoodEngage remembers:

  • Selected profile properties
  • Custom column names defined in the Export as field

These preferences are automatically applied the next time you export profiles.

Step 5: Start export

To start the export, choose one of the available formats:

  • Export as CSV
  • Export as XLSX
  • Export as JSON

Once selected, the export process starts immediately.

Export started notification

Confirmation that the export process has started

A toast notification confirms that the export has started and that you will be notified when the file is ready.

Step 6: Export ready notification

When the export is completed, an onsite notification appears.

The notification informs you that the export file is ready to be downloaded and includes a Go to Exports call-to-action.

Clicking Go to Exports redirects you to the Exports Center.

Step 7: Download exported files

The Exports Center displays all generated export files.

For each file, you can see:

  • File name and format
  • File size
  • Creation date
  • Remaining availability time

Exported files remain available for 48 hours.
After that period, they are automatically deleted.

To download a file, click its name.
To remove it manually, use the delete action.

Best practices

  • Export only the properties you need to keep files lightweight
  • Use custom column names when integrating with external systems
  • Save preferences if you export frequently with the same structure
  • Download files promptly before they expire

The Export Profiles feature provides a flexible and controlled way to access your audience data outside of HoodEngage.
